Assignment 2 (Stepping stone)

9"Stepping stone techniques involves taking advantage of other people's initial ideas or from one’s own ideas when trying to solve a problem. Ideas that are often discarded due to reasons which either they won't work, or because they are illogical. The concept of the stepping stone method is first to record these ‘crazy’ ideas, and than turn it into ideas that is workable and feasible"~lecture notes

The 2nd stages for this assignment is that we need to use random words and image association. We randomly choose radio as the subject to generate ideas. Then just like the previous class exercises we need to generate as many as great idea from this random words and image association to find a solutions.

Leo Burnett Worldwide

"Leo Burnett Worldwide is an advertising company. It was created in 1935 by Leo Burnett.
He was born in St. Johns, Michigan, and studied journalism at the University of Michigan.
He worked as reporter and copywriter at various companies until 1930. The company was opened in the period of Great Depression. Maybe the first creative advertisement he made was the bowl of apples in the reception of the Leo Burnett’s office.Later that year Leo made a symbol for the company: hand reaching for the stars. He said: “when you reach for the stars, you may not quite get one, but you won’t come up with a handful of mud either”. 1950 is a breakpoint in the history of the Leo Burnett’s company. That year it got two big advertising projects: Kellogg’s and P&G. LB designed “Tony the Tiger” for Kellog’s Frosted Flakes. 49 years later, Tony was honoured as one of the 20th century’s top 10 icons[citation needed]. In 1997 Leo Burnett Worldwide changed brand to written words Leo Burnett, but in 2002 the “new corporate identity” returned to the hand and the stars.Today, Leo Burnett Worldwide is a part of the the french group Publicis, but still remains one of the biggest and most successful advertising
companies in the world. Among its clients are McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Walt Disney, Marlboro,
Maytag, Kellogg’s, Tampax, Nintendo, U.S. Army, Philips, Samsung, Visa, Wrigley’s, Hallmark,
etc. It has 97 offices in 84 countries."~Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Burnett_Worldwide)

~Yasmin Ahmad did working there.Yasmin Ahmad is a critically-acclaimed film director and writer from Malaysia, eventually rising to creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur. Her television commercials are well-known in Malaysia, particularly her ads for PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company.I think Yasmin is really a creative person. She always thinks outside the box.

Analogy!!

"Analogy is both the cognitive process of transferring information from a particular subject
(the analogue or source) to another particular subject (the target), and a linguistic expression corresponding to such a process. In a narrower sense, analogy is an inference or an argument from one particular to another particular, as opposed to deduction, induction, and abduction, where at least one of the premises or the conclusion is general. The word analogy can also refer to the relation between the source and the target themselves, which is often, though not necessarily, a similarity, as in the biological notion of analogy."~Wikipedia

Juxtaposition

From wikipedia juxtaposition is stimulation of creativity in problem solving, design or other creative pursuit by confronting two unrelated concepts or objects, usually the goal or problem to
be solved on the one hand and a randomly selected object or concept on the other.
These is what we've been doing in class activity.Mr Radzi ask us to choose 3 set of numbers.
So i choose 07,17,77
From the number that I chose, I have to combine each digit with the words above. So these are the result:

07-Flytree~ The birds fly to the tree

17-Flowertree~A beautiful flowers grows from that tree

77-dogtree~A dog barks in front of that tree

Lastly, ask us to come out with something that unique from the words, something that when people saw that picture, people will know what is the combination word of we have chose before.

Mind Mapping

A hand-drawn mind map

"A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked
to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate,
visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem
solving, decision making, and writing. The elements of a given mind map are arranged
intuitively according to the importance of the concepts, and are classified into groupings,
branches, or areas, with the goal of representing semantic or other connections between
portions of information. Mind maps may also aid recall of existing memories." I take this
from wikipedia

and for my own opinion mind map is a system of 'non-linear' notation which attempt to stimulate both the analytical and the emotional functions of the brain as a means of stimulating and presenting ideas. The mind mapping technique actually was originally designed by a pcsychologist named Tony Buzan

Here are mind mapping about myself.Things i want to achieve in 10 years :P

Bill Gates Or Google???

Bill Gates Larry Page & Sergey Brin

Which one will you CHOOSE????

for me i choose Bill Gates
This is a little bit about Bill Gates that i have research from wikipedia
"William Henry "Bill" Gates III (born October 28, 1955),is an American business magnate,
philanthropist, the world's third richest person (as of February 8, 2008),and chairman
of Microsoft, the software company he founded with Paul Allen. Gates was the richest person
in the world for 15 consecutive years. During his career at Microsoft,
Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest
individual shareholder with more than 8 percent of the common stock. He has also
authored or co-authored several books.Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of
the personal computer revolution. Although he is admired by many, a large number of
industry insiders criticize his business tactics, which they consider anti-competitive,
an opinion which has in some cases been upheld by the courts. In the later stages
of his career, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large
amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs
through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000"

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

From my opinion novelty is something unusual or being new. and creativity is an idea which you implement with a twist and act with it. Then, innovation changing one to another different thing.Lastly, invention is to create something new.

and this is from what i had research from wikipedia

Novelty is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals. It also refers to something novel that which is striking, original or unusual.

Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or
concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. An alternative conception of creativness is that it is simply the act of making something new.

Innovation means a new way of doing something. It may refer to incremental, radical, and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations.
A distinction is typically made between Invention, an idea made manifest, and innovation, ideas applied successfully.

Invention is the finding or creation of a new configuration, composition of matter,
device, or process. Some inventions are based on pre-existing models or ideas. Other
inventions are radical breakthroughs which may extend the boundaries of human knowledge or experience.
